Frequently asked questions

Answers to the most commonly asked questions about the lottery

Who are Mencap?

We are the voice of people with a learning disability we aim to create a society where people with a leaning disability are equal, listened to and included.

We do this through funding research and campaigning, fighting for a better future, through our projects and programmes which trail ground-breaking work to promote inclusion and through our services where we give people we support the life choices and freedoms they want.

How do I get in touch?

You can reach us Monday – Friday by calling 0207 696 6007 or by emailing supportercare@mencap.org.uk.

If you would like support regarding learning disabilities please contact our learning disability helpline on 0808 808 1111 (10am to 4pm Monday to Friday) or email helpline@mencap.org.uk.

How much does Mencap receive from each £1 entry?

From each £1 lottery entry, Mencap receives a minimum of 50p (50%).

The remaining 50% is split between covering the prize fund (18.4%) and the costs of administering the lottery (31.6%).

How many entries can I have?

You can play up to 10 entries a week. Don’t forget you must be 18 or over to play!

How do I claim a prize?

The good news is if you are lucky we will get in contact with you and automatically send you your prize so there is no need to claim.

If you match 4 digits or more, you will be sent your winnings automatically, either directly into your bank (if playing by Direct Debit), or via a cheque sent in the post.

If you match 3 digits you will be sent an email to confirm your win and your temporary 5 prize entry lottery numbers for the following week's draw.

Why do you advertise ‘from £1 per week’ but it costs £4.34 a month?

The lottery draw takes place every Friday and sometimes in a month there are 5 Fridays in a month.

By paying an additional 34p per month these will accumulate to cover the additional draw that sometimes happens when there are 5 Fridays in a month.

How do I know the draw is fair?
